This year's ECOC (European Conference of Optical Communications) is being held at The Bella Centre in Copenhagen (8th-12th September). It has already attracted record numbers of exhibitors and papers submitted to its conference. The Asian contingent - including strong representation from China, Taiwan and Japan - means than one in seven of exhibitors is from Asia.
There are also more than 90 companies from the USA and Canada taking part.
"ECOC is now the leading international event for optical communications in the world and that is backed up by the fact that this year's show has needed more than 50% more stand space in order to cope with demand", said ECOC Marketing Manager Lucy Van Renselar.
"This has happened in relatively difficult times for the market and shows great confidence in both ECOC as an event and in the fact that the industry is committed to recovery".
Several of the Asian companies exhibiting are represented by trade show agent Ace Marketing of Taiwan.
These include Ritek, Universal Microelectronics and Radiantech.
"Optical communications technology is a key development area in Asia and many organisations are looking for a world stage to highlight their latest products and applications", said Miso Tseng, Sales Director of Ace Marketing "We looked around the US and Europe and had no doubts that in ECOC we had found the perfect vehicle to deliver on these requirements".
The ECOC exhibition is being staged for the 7th year, taking its place alongside the long established conference.
Together, they have emerged as a powerful forum, uniting academia and industry in discussion and display of the latest and future optical communications components, products, systems and services.
Attendance to the exhibition is free and preregistration has been made easy by the introduction of an official ECOC website, which can handle everything from simple registrations to exhibition stand bookings and an appointment management system.
