Yamaha Corporation and NewLogic have announced a licensing deal which allows Yamaha to add Bluetooth functionality to its IC products, and to manufacture Bluetooth chips and chipsets

Yamaha Corporation and NewLogic have announced a licensing deal encompassing NewLogic's Boost Core and Boost Software IP products. The deal, the terms of which were not disclosed, allows Yamaha to add Bluetooth functionality to its IC products, and to manufacture Bluetooth chips and chipsets.

"The features of Bluetooth wireless technology make it a very attractive means of replacing cables in the musical instrument and accessory arena", said Hirokazu Kato, Director, Yamaha Corporation.

"By adding Bluetooth capability to our music products we will be able to open up a new world of wireless interconnection between musical instruments, sound and stage equipment", he added.

"The desire to add Bluetooth functionality to a wide range of products is gaining momentum", said Hans-Peter Metzler, President and CEO of NewLogic.

"We are delighted to be able to offer an embedded Bluetooth solution which meets Yamaha's needs, both in terms of technical merit and guaranteed interoperability".
