National Semiconductor has expanded its high-performance precision amplifier portfolio with the addition of three high common-mode difference amplifiers.

National Semiconductor has expanded its high-performance precision amplifier portfolio with the addition of three high common-mode difference amplifiers Designed for broad-based automotive, industrial, medical and telecommunications applications, these new amplifiers meet the requirements for accurate current sensing measurements in products such as basestations, notebook PCs and sensor controls in industrial applications

The LMP8275 and LMP8277 high common-mode amplifiers and LMP8276 high common-mode bidirectional amplifier join National's LMP (linear monolithic precision) product family, which detects, amplifies and filters small differential signals in the presence of high common-mode voltages.

"With the addition of these three high-performance precision amplifiers, National Semiconductor continues to provide its customers with the highest-accuracy parts on the market", said Erroll Dietz, Vice President of National's Amplifier product group.

"Each of the new amplifiers is individually tested at three separate temperatures to ensure we meet the demanding requirements for industrial, medical and telecom applications with very low offset voltage and drift".

The LMP8275/6/7 are fixed-gain differential amplifiers with a -2 to +27V input common-mode voltage range and a supply voltage range of 4.75 to 5.5V.

The amplifiers' guaranteed tri-temperature testing ensures a low temperature coefficient for offset voltage drift (TCVos).

The gain of the LMP8275 and LMP8276 is fixed at 20, allowing them to amplify small signals and drive analogue-to-digital convertors (ADC) to full scale.

The LMP8277's gain is fixed at 14.

An extended common-mode voltage range (CMVR) of -2 to +36V is also specified for these three products.

The very low offset voltage (less than 2mV) and offset drift (less than 30uV/C) of these products allow for accurate differential signal conditioning of small signals, with minimal voltage offset error through the entire temperature range.

Additionally, the extended operating temperature range of -40 to +125C ensures these amplifiers can be used in extreme conditions, such as those found in industrial applications.

These products complement the previously released LMP8270, LMP8271 and LMP8272 high common-mode differential amplifiers, which are also ideal for high-side and low-side current sensing in many automotive, industrial and telecommunication applications, such as battery charging and discharging for notebook computers and cellphones, and fuel injection control.

The amplifiers are available in SOIC-8 packaging.

The LMP8275 and LMP8277 are priced at $1.05 each and the LMP8276 is priced at $1.15 each, all in 1000-unit quantities.
