3M Touch Systems will demonstrate its range of touch monitors, sensors and electronics for the self-service kiosk, banking and industrial markets at Electronica 2008 in Germany.

Key attractions include a 17in chassis touch monitor, capacitive touch sensors, touch controllers and a 40in Dispersive Signal Technology (DST) display unit.

The Microtouch 17in chassis monitor is designed to meet the needs of kiosk and enclosure manufacturers, as well as light industrial applications.

The 17in chassis includes a 500:1 contrast ratio LCD display module.

An integrated Toughtouch II sensor provides dramatic impact resistance so it can be used for unattended and high threat environments.

Microtouch Cleartek II capacitive touch technology will also be on show.

3M said that its Cleartek II technology offers accurate touch performance, physical durability, excellent light transmission, advanced anti-glare properties and high reliability.

When combined with Microtouch EX II electronic controllers, Cleartek II touchscreens offer strong performance in a variety of touch applications.

The latest EX II 7700 series USB controllers feature enhanced levels of CRFI (Conducted Radio Frequency Immunity), wake-on-touch functionality and increased MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure) specifications to more than 700,000 hours.

To complete the product portfolio, 3M will exhibit a 40in TFT touch monitor solution incorporating DST touchscreen and controller.

Designed for large-format interactive displays, 3M said that the DST touchscreens deliver fast, accurate and repeatable touch response.

DST's operation is unaffected by surface damage from scratches, contaminants, static objects or other touches on the screen.

It also offers input flexibility, accepting touch from finger, pencil, credit card, fingernail, or almost any type of stylus.

3M will occupy booth 467 in hall B3 at Electronica 2008, 11-14 November, New Munich Trade Fair Centre, Germany.
