3M Touch Systems will display its portfolio of world-renowned touch products and technologies at Electronica 2006 (Hall A3, Stand 175).

Stand visitors will see demonstrations of high endurance LCD capacitive touch screens, capacitive and resistive electronics, a kiosk chassis monitor and PL resistive touch sensors from 3M applied to demanding applications in markets such as gaming casino, retail lottery, financial ATM and retail self-service.

Delivering at least five times more wear-resistance and durability over competitive solutions, MicroTouch ClearTek II Capacitive Touch Screens from 3M are ideal for harsh environments such as the gaming floor of a casino or amusement arcade where reliable touch performance is required 24/7.

Additional key features include accurate touch performance and the highest levels of light transmission in the market place today.

3M will use a 32in NEC display to show the technology's superiority in this application area.

For capacitive touch screen applications where space is limited, such as lottery terminals, the MicroTouch EX II Controller Series from 3M brings OEMs flexibility and easy integration.

The controllers are based on the innovative EX II ASIC, designed to provide higher resolution touch co-ordinates, on-chip RAM, and a wider operating temperature range.

They support serial and USB, offer expanded regulatory approvals, improved power modes, and enhanced ESD and EMI protection.

The controllers will be demonstrated on a MicroTouch CT150 15in LCD touch screen monitor with integrated ClearTek II sensor from 3M.

The flexibility, usability, ease of configuration and high performance features of the CT150 chassis monitor will also be displayed for self-service applications.

The CT150 offers a 500:1 contrast ratio, three bezel options, an array of designer-flexible mounting methods, a remote control on-screen-display adjustment module and internal power cable, eliminating the need for external power adapters.

Increased impact-resistance is a necessity in unattended or vandal-prone applications such as ATMs.

MicroTouch ToughTouch capacitive touch screens from 3M address this requirement utilising a special layer of strengthened glass laminated to the back.

Privacy concerns of ATM users can also be addressed using a Vikuiti light control film (LCF) from 3M which reduces the viewing angle of the screen to 60 degrees.

A ToughTouch screen with laminated LCF will be shown on the stand.

Alongside its capacitive offerings, 3M will exhibit its range of resistive controllers and PL resistive sensors.

The resistive controllers support 3M's full range of resistive touch screens for LCD's, while offering significant flexibility and high performance at a competitive price.

Its four- and eight-wire PL resistive sensors can be easily integrated into rugged touch products, offering low power consumption, shatter-resistance and the ability to withstand temperature and humidity extremes found in harsh indoor and outdoor environments.
