3M Touch Systems has developed a new generation of capacitive touch screens offering advanced antiglare design for increased durability in harsh environments such as the gaming, point-of-sale and industrial markets.

3M's ClearTek II Profile and MicroTouch Software Suite are designed to enable easy integration and creative application designs.

Based on the original ClearTek capacitive product line, ClearTek II is compatible with existing MicroTouch EX II controllers for customer upgrade flexibility.

ClearTek II's proprietary scratch resistant protection combined with enhanced antiglare properties also make it highly robust for reliable performance in harsh environmental conditions.

The advanced antiglare design is based on a unique coating, which achieves a critical balance between light transmission and antiglare properties resulting in more vibrant optical characteristics and a 91% light transmission.

The ClearTek II Profile design also includes an environmentally friendly, lead-free cable connection for increased strength and reliability.

In addition, its construction simplifies the manufacturing process and improves time to market for 3M customers.

3M is supporting its touch screen portfolio with the MicroTouch Software Suite, a comprehensive, modular package of software, driver and configuration components.

This offering provides flexibility to customise touch software applications, accommodating common operating systems and meeting industry compliance standards.

The enabling features include defining active touch areas on the screens, sophisticated multiple monitor support, and configuration flexibility.

Its modular design means that customers need only install only the required components enabling system optimisation and simple installation.

3M's ClearTek II and enhanced MicroTouch Software Suite will be available in January 2005.
