A new range of touch screen controllers offers improved integration into PC-based kiosks and industrial control systems by providing support for both traditional serial communications and USB ports.

Designed to support 3M's full range of resistive touch screens for liquid crystal displays (LCDs), the new MicroTouch SC Series is serial plug and play and USB human interface device (HID) class compliant for kiosk and industrial control applications that require interface flexibility and enhanced functionality.

This allows the USB controller to be certifiable for Windows Hardware Qualification Lab (WHQL) standards.

The new controllers share the fast and accurate touch response, extended temperature support, and high performance specifications of the existing portfolio and take advantage of an enhanced "voltage-detection" method using state-of-the-art design components.

To provide upgrade flexibility for customers, the new SC series of resistive controllers maintains the same form and fit as the newest MicroTouch EX II controllers from 3M.

The series is available in a compact 1 x 2in format, and supports four-, five- and eight-wire resistive touch screens.
