3M Touch Systems will use CeBIT, Hannover as the platform to launch a new, larger format 17in LCD touch monitor for retail, and information point applications.

3M Touch Systems will use CeBIT, Hannover as the platform to launch a new, larger format 17in LCD touch monitor for retail, and information point applications, as well as an enhanced version of its popular 15in unit, and an extension of the MicroTouch EXII electronics platform to its five-wire resistive technology.

The new MicroTouch M170 touch monitor continues 3M's innovative touch display design, offering touch stability and display quality that allows it to perform consistently and reliably across a myriad of application segments.

It features a well-engineered base that delivers exceptional overall touch stability while aesthetically enhancing the product.

A unique display adjustment and locking mechanism located in the monitor base is simple to use and ensures that a fixed, rigid display angle is maintained during use.

Also new on the stand at CeBIT is an enhanced version of the M150 15in touch monitor.

Both the new M150 and the M170 monitor feature a new peripheral attachment system which allows the seamless attachment of a host of market specific peripherals including card and fingerprint readers.

Unlike competing units, which utilise embedded components, these monitors can be field-configured for maximum flexibility with the customer's choice of off-the-shelf peripherals of their brand and technology preference.

Integral moulded channels and cable management in the monitor case conceal peripheral cables for a clean, finished appearance.

The system also allows for quick, on-site replacement of nonfunctional peripherals and aids in minimising down time and spare inventory requirements.

Also at CeBIT, 3M is announcing the extension of its EXII touch electronics platform to its five-wire resistive touch technology.

The EXII is based on a single chip, that integrates much of the support electronics for touch screen operations, and delivers for the user improved touch resolution especially for the larger screen sizes, and operation over a wider temperature range from -40 to +70C.

The 3M team will also be able to brief visitors about the integration of Vikuiti films into MicroTouch monitors.

These include a solar reflective film laminated inside the touch screen that helps prevent infra-red solar radiation from overheating devices or enclosures.

3M Touch Systems full range of LCD touch monitors, including the MicroTouch ChassisTouch FPD for OEM integration into kiosks and other systems, will be exhibited at CeBIT by 3M, integrating its ClearTek capacitive touch technology.
