New from Monolithic Power Systems (MPS), the MP3213 is a current-mode fixed-frequency step-up convertor with an integrated 180mohm 3.5A power switch. Accepting an input between 2.5 and 22V, the MP3213 can operate across the full functional range of single or multiple Li-ion cells or up to 20V for wall adapters. Power conversion is up to 94% efficient in boost applications or driving today's high current LEDs from a single Li-ion cell.

The MP3213 achieves 94% peak efficiency in part due to extremely low gate charge FET technology and a 1uA switch leakage current, even with an output voltage in excess of 20V.

Switching frequency can be set to 700kHz or 1.3MHz to avoid any noise critical frequencies.

With a maximum duty cycle of 95% typical, the MP3213 boosts even the minimum 2.5V input voltage to an output as high as 22V.

The MP3213 is available in a compact RoHS compliant MSOP-8 package and 3 x 3mm QFN.

Pricing for the MP3213 begins at $1.34 in 1000-piece quantities. Request a free brochure from Monolithic Power Systems (MPS)....
