Canon cited ease of adoption and use, and improvement in turnaround time, as the primary reasons for the selection of Monterey. "For Canon, the choice of Monterey was very clear", said Hiroyuki Nakamura of Canon's Ayase site. "Cost of adoption, ease of use, and the need for a highly integrated design flow were foremost on our minds during the selection process.
During our extensive interactions with Monterey, we became convinced that our new design flow with Monterey's SDPD solution would be ready for production designs very quickly, and that the training effort required to use the tools would not be excessive".
"Canon wanted a complete physical implementation solution from a single vendor", said Rick Ader, General Manager of Asia/Pacific Operations at Monterey.
"With Monterey, Canon can perform physical design quickly and cost-effectively without having to purchase, integrate, and learn to use a multitude of tools from different vendors.
We look forward to working together with an innovator such as Canon to implement their SDPD production design flow".
Canon is currently in the final stages of implementing and validating its physical design flow incorporating SDPD.
The new flow will be used for the digital sections of their mixed signal designs.
