Fabless semiconductor company Morphics Technology has successfully completed multiple chips ranging from 5 to 15 million gates using Monterey's IC Wizard hierarchical design planner

"It takes hierarchy to design multi-million-gate chips on manageable and predictable schedules", said Dr Ted Williams, Vice President of Silicon Engineering for Morphics. "We have been successfully using IC Wizard from Monterey for over a year and a half as an integral part of our production hierarchical design flow".

"Wireless communications has been, and will continue to be, one of the most challenging segments within the semiconductor market for physical design tools", said Dave Reed, Vice President of Marketing and Solutions Delivery at Monterey.

"As the chips become larger and as the semiconductor vendors combine multiple protocols onto a single design, the benefits offered by hierarchical physical design make it the methodology of choice for wireless chips".

Morphics supplies ICs for cellular and fixed wireless basestations and semiconductor intellectual property (SIP) cores for handsets and wireless data devices.

The company combines expertise in communications theory and digital signal processing with innovative computer architecture and silicon engineering to efficiently deliver the highest levels of signal processing performance, as well as flexibility and scalability, for next-generation wireless applications.
