Based on the Rast 2.5 signal connector, the new Rast Power range is designed to carry up to 6A and mates directly to a PCB or via header. It is ideal for all appliances ranging from washing machines and dishwashers to central heating boilers and air conditioning systems. The new Rast Power receptacle has been designed to work with a wire of diameter 0.5 to 0.75mm2 (20AWG).
Molex's latest power receptacle includes polarising features such as a polarising rib and polarising end walls in order to prevent any mismating with the PCB, as well as coding keys to avoid mismating with the header.
The company has set high quality standards for its new connectors by fitting the products with an internal latch for increased PCB retention, as well as a double IDT slot to improve wire termination and retention.
Rast Power also meets the IEC60335 glow wire standard thanks to its Schulamid housing material.
The Rast family is complete with the addition of the Rast 5 vertical and right angle headers.
The headers are available from Molex in circuit sizes 2 to 7, but larger sizes can also be added on demand.
They can also mate with all Rast 5 receptacles on the market due to their standard interface.
Both receptacles and headers are offered in silver or tin plating giving the customer choice in both cost and current carrying capacity.
