Fibre interconnect system boosts data density
Interconnect system complies with the next generation SFF 8431 specification and reaches 10Gbit/s speeds using the same port space as a standard SFP system
Molex's HSSDC2 product family includes a board-mount receptacle, an adapter receptacle, the small form-factor pluggable (SFP) module and cable assemblies.
The system complements the latest SFP products.
The connector operates at 2.5Gbit/s for today's applications and is scalable to 5.0Gbit/s for next generation designs.

Flexible design for fast backplane connectors
Backplane connector system features a broadside-coupled skew-equalised design to handle speeds up to 12.5Gbit/s and beyond
Designed for 1.57 and 2.36mm printed circuit boards, the system's right angle receptacle offers a positive locking interface to prevent accidental disengagement and 94V0 high temperature plastic for reflow flexibility.
The SMT lead design allows 0.16mm tail-to-tail coplanarity, facilitating standard soldering techniques.
Six chassis ground locations, six PCB ground retention contacts and four plug-to-receptacle grounding points minimize EMI/RFI.
A keying feature allows polarisation and reduces mismating.
The HSSDC2 connector meets both 100 or 150ohm system requirements.
System cable assemblies support both Fibre Channel and InfiniBand options.
Fibre Channel cable assemblies running at 2.125Gbit/s are engineered to 150ohm matched impedance and are compliant to 20m.
The InfiniBand version tops 2.25Gbit/s with 100ohm matched impedance and is protocol compliant to 17m.
Assemblies use a high-speed cable die-cast plug with an internal impedance-controlled high speed PCB and rugged positive latching system.
Molex also offers a variety of hot pluggable copper SFP modules serving InfiniBand and Fibre Channel applications.
HSSDC2 has been specified as the 1x interface for next generation InfiniBand I/O applications.
This specification is based on the protocol's stringent electrical requirements including insertion loss, crosstalk, pair-to-pair skew and differential impedance.
The connector is also designated as the next revision of the NCIT's T11 Fibre Channel physical layer specification.
Pricing depends on products and quantity ordered.
Depending on the volume ordered, lead-time is typically four to six weeks.
The receptacles may be ordered in "tape and reel" or tray packaging based on customer requirements.
