October's Photonex exhibition (8th-9th October 2003) - now firmly established back at its traditional home at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire - will offer visitors its widest ever spread of the use of optics and photonics technology and applications. The show is now recognised as the UK's premier event and in addition to the exhibition itself, visitors will be able to take part in the technical programme of meetings and workshops. This will include two days of workshops by the Photonics Cluster (UK), and four meetings organised by the Institute of Physics.
The event will also be cohosted with the Imaging Science exhibition for the first time, which features vision technologies for industry, defence, medical and research and development communities.
"Photonex is an exhibition which reaches right across many disciplines", said Exhibition Director Laurence Devereux.
"So you can find out everything you need here - from simple optical components to complex instruments, lasers and systems.
Examples of applications amongst many include metrology for investigation of surfaces and lasers for industrial materials processing".
"It really is all here under one roof and Stoneleigh Park is where our exhibitors and visitors have declared that they prefer to come to because it is so convenient".
A particular trend this year has been the increase in technologies associated with thin films, with several exhibitors highlighting their capabilities, including testing and systems for thin films.
The meetings include sessions on in-fibre gratings and special fibres, optical environmental sensing, underwater optics, evaluation of long-path optical techniques for real world applications and interferometry as a measuring tool.
The exhibition is open from 10.00-17.00 on the opening day and from 10.00-16.00 on the final day.
"Over the last few years Photonex has cemented itself as the leading UK show in its field, and 2003 is strengthening that position even further", said Devereux.
