The PP01 single-board computer is one of the first standard platforms for Freescale's new automotive PowerPC MPC5200 and is also MEN's first PC/104-Plus module. It has been designed for applications in harsh industrial environments, particularly for mobile controls in trains, planes, ships, commercial vehicles or cars. The heart of the PP01 is Freescale's 384MHz MPC5200 - a TCU PowerPC from the automotive series that offers an impressive 760MIPS.

This extremely compact device consists of a 603e core, FPU, MMU, DRAM controller and the BestComm/DMA I/O controller, which drives essential industrial interfaces such as CAN, USB, Fast Ethernet and SPI.

The MPC5200 offers all of these functions while consuming less than 850mW.

Fast Ethernet and two optically isolated RS232 interfaces are routed to robust D-sub connectors on the PP01.

Two CAN channels and USB can be connected directly by means of SA adapters.

For memory needs, 32Mbyte of SDRAM, 8Mbyte of Flash and 64Kbyte of FRAM are permanently soldered onto the board to offer protection against shock and vibration.

A real-time clock and watchdog complete the module's functionality.

All components on the PP01 are specified for -40 to +85C operation.

The PP01 supports Linux and VxWorks.

The CANopen firmware is based on the protocol stack from Vector Informatik.

Minimum availability of the PP01 is 10 years.
