Synchronicity Developer Suite is already in use at 12 of the top 15 semiconductor companies. Now the latest version provides an advanced design data management environment that enables global, multisite development that can lower cycle times, increase quality and improve a semiconductor organisation's return on product development. Developer Suite Version 4.2 provides designers with improved performance and support for the industry's broadest range of EDA applications and operating platforms.

It includes new versions of MatrixOne's Synchronicity DesignSync, MatrixOne's semiconductor design data management platform, and MatrixOne's Synchronicity ProjectSync, a project communication and collaboration management solution.

'The size and complexity of new semiconductor products - such as the chips driving the next generation of automobiles, digital music and personal communications - and the speed at which they must be developed, are changing the way that designs and design collaboration are being done', said John Fleming, Senior Vice President and General Manager of MatrixOne's Electronics Business Unit.

'These are no longer monolithic projects'.

'They must be divided into multiple subprojects, each of these actually a large complex project onto itself'.

'The new Developer Suite capabilities enable semiconductor companies to take advantage of global economies of scale and collaborative partnerships to change the way they bring these products to market, through a highly collaborative process that involves their entire value chain located around the world'.

The optional Hierarchical Configuration Manager (HCM) from MatrixOne provides the industry's only true block-based data management capability, which enables hierarchical system-on-chip (SoC) design and reuse.

HCM lets designers define the hierarchical relationships between design components, providing a simple, yet powerful interface.

This innovative, systems-based methodology helps minimise costly, hard-to-detect mistakes and can tremendously shorten and reduce design cycles.

Significant enhancements to Developer Suite Version 4.2 include the following.

Version 4.2 includes new HCM capabilities to create an intuitive, hierarchical file structure for very large SoC designs.

Version 4.2 now supports the latest four releases of Cadence OpenAccess, Cadence CDBA, and the latest three releases of Synopsys Milkyway database.

Version 4.2 enhances the integration to MatrixOne's Program Central application, which enables events changing in DesignSync to update a project manager's dashboard automatically.

Version 4.2 enhances tagging and introduces additional multi-threaded processing, which provides greater scalability and increased performance.

The Developer Suite continues to be supported on all major platforms including Solaris, HP-UX, Windows, and Red Hat Linux including Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) - Version 4.2 now supports Solaris 10 and leading open source platforms including RHEL 4 and SuSE 9.
