MIPS-based Xilleon 220 and 225 ASIC chips available from ATI Technologies are being adopted by many of the world's largest OEMs and are shipping to retail stores in a broad range of consumer applications. Since 1999, ATI has been developing innovative solutions based upon the MIPS architecture using various cores from the 4K and 4KE families.

ATI's list of MIPS-based design wins is impressive and continues to grow.

To date, the company can boast its products have been incorporated into Epson's media projectors, Samsung's next-generation digital televisions, Scientific-Atlanta's digital set-top boxes, Sony's digital televisions, as well as in digital media players by Roku.

Within China, ATI is fast becoming the standard with customers such as Changhong, Hisense Electric Co and Xiamen Overseas Chinese Electronic Co.

"ATI Technologies' deepening market penetration is a key component to the success story of the MIPS architecture in consumer applications", said Jack Browne, Vice President of Worldwide Sales at MIPS Technologies.

"Using our 32bit architecture as the basis for the Xilleon family, ATI was able to achieve 300MHz in a standard 32bit single CPU RISC implementation.

We applaud ATI's success and look forward to continuing to work with them to ensure their success".
