VoiceXtender from Microtel is a device that allows free high-quality voice calls to be made between sites using existing WAN connections. Using VoiceXtender, simple telephones located at a remote site can be connected through an existing LAN/WAN computer network infrastructure to a telephone system at the main site. Voice quality is to the H323 industry standard.

At the distant site, two simple telephones connect to the remote VoiceXtender convertor, which connects through the local LAN, via the intersite WAN connection, to the LAN at the main site, where the host VoiceXtender is attached.

This, in turn, connects to two extension telephone (POTS) ports of the host telephone system.

With a cost of under GBP 350 per unit, the VoiceXtender offers rapid payback of investment.

Installation is simple, requiring only a simple mains-powered desktop unit at each location.
