Mentor Graphics is accepting entries for its 2003 PCB Technology Leadership Awards University Scholarship

Cosponsored by HP, the scholarship is designed to promote innovation and excellence in education for PCB designers at colleges and universities. The winning entry in the Leadership Awards programme's University and Training Institutes category receives an academic scholarship totalling $2000.

"Mentor Graphics is committed to educating tomorrow's engineers and technology leaders", said Shanthi Pattison, manager, Higher Education Programme, Mentor Graphics.

"The PCB Technology Leadership Awards Scholarship recognises excellence in the area of PCB design and we greatly appreciate HP sharing our enthusiasm for this excellent opportunity".

The university scholarship is open to any full-time undergraduate or graduate student (or team of students) at a college or university participating in the Mentor Graphics Worldwide Higher Education Programme.

A panel of industry-leading expert judges will evaluate each entry for innovation, complexity, physical design and aesthetics.

University and Training Category entries are due by 10th December 2002, and award winners will be notified on or before 31st January 2003.

"Innovation and educational development are key corporate objectives for HP", said Norm Reini, Global Business Manager, HP Workstation Global Business Unit.

"The electronics industry depends on highly-skilled and trained engineers and this scholarship encourages and rewards excellence and innovation in university programmes".

Through its Higher Education Programme, Mentor Graphics offers more than 550 colleges and universities worldwide a way to acquire commercial electronic design automation (EDA) software for classroom instruction and academic research, to help ensure that engineering graduates are proficient with state-of-the-art tools and techniques.

The scholarship is a subset of the Mentor Graphics 2003 PCB Technology Leadership Awards Programme, the longest running awards programme for PCB designers in the EDA industry.
