Library boosts PCB design software
Mentor Graphics has set up an agreement with Optimum Design Associates to make the 2002 ODA Library for Expedition available for use with the Mentor Graphics Expedition Series of PCB design tools
Mentor Graphics has established a joint marketing agreement with Optimum Design Associates (ODA) to make the 2002 ODA Library for Expedition available for use with the Mentor Graphics Expedition Series of PCB design tools. The 2002 ODA Library for Expedition is the result of more than five years of development by ODA, an established PCB design service centre that uses Expedition for more than 75% of its designs.

The production-ready, integrated and fully documented library of symbols, cells (footprints) and a large PDB (part database) will allow new Expedition users to significantly reduce the task of library creation and proceed to the design and layout process as quickly as possible.
For current Expedition customers, the ODA Library offers an economical, production-tested, high-quality resource to quickly expand existing libraries.
"This agreement is part of Mentor's continued focus and investment in the powerful Expedition design flow and makes an important, high-quality resource available to new and existing Expedition users to further accelerate their time-to-productivity", said Henry Potts, vice president and general manager, systems design division, Mentor Graphics.

"In today's business environment time-to-market pressures are intense, so anything that helps users get up and running quickly will impact business success".
The 2002 ODA Library for Expedition comprises more than 1500 symbols, 3300 cells based on SMT PLUS standards and 15,000 PDB part entries, which are all fully integrated and documented.
It also includes a variety of productivity enhancers such as display schemes, output setup files and design templates.
The production-proven quality of the ODA Library will help Expedition users avoid design errors caused by unreliable library elements.
"Experience has taught us that for doing designs of significant complexity, Expedition will outperform any other tool", said Nick Barbin, president, ODA.
"Now new customers can benefit from our investment in this complete, integrated library which has been real-world tested on thousands of board designs".
"The ODA Library is a comprehensive and complete library for those new to Expedition", said Elizabeth Anderson, CAD Librarian, Netro Corp.
"It is also a cost-effective way to add to and verify your existing library".
The 2002 ODA Library for Expedition is available for a promotional price of $1800 for a single site licence, discounted from a list price of $3900.
A free demonstration version of the library can be downloaded at www.optimumdesign.com.
