Calibre ranks higher for Mentor
Mentor Graphics has been buoyed by the news that its Calibre design rule checking (DRC) software has increased its leadership in the physical verification market for ICs
According to an October 2001 Gartner Dataquest report titled, "EDA 2001: It's good to be an EDA vendor", in 2000 Calibre captured 57% of the design rule checking market. This is a 10-point increase over its 47% leadership position in 1999. In addition to Calibre DRC's success in 2000, during 2001 the Calibre toolsuite as a whole experienced a 15% growth rate, despite the severe recession within the semiconductor industry.

This is attributable to the continued adoption of Calibre throughout the semiconductor industry and the application of Calibre's advanced physical verification capabilities in new design starts by existing Calibre customers.
Calibre products are used at 23 of the top 25 integrated device manufacturers worldwide, and at all of the largest Japanese chip manufacturers.
During the last 36 months, the number of fabless semiconductor companies using Calibre has increased by more than seven times.
Steady adoption in the fabless market is a strong indicator that Calibre is becoming the standard infrastructure enabling reliable transition of designs from the fabless semiconductor company to the foundry.
