New from Micro-Robotics is a QVGA LCD and touch screen driver for the company's highly popular VM-1 credit-card-sized, embedded control computer

The 5809 board carries a graphics controller IC (S1D13705) and a touch screen controller IC (TSC2003) allowing the inclusion of a QVGA graphics panel and/or a resistive touch screen in all applications that use the VM-1. All types of QVGA LCD displays without an onboard controller, the vast majority, are catered for in the hardware and Venom-SC, the popular, object-oriented, control-system language, designed and developed at Micro-Robotics specifically for the VM-1, supports multiple fonts and graphics commands.

The software currently supports monochrome images only.

A software upgrade may be required for some displays, but this will normally be carried out free of charge by Micro-Robotics if suitable target hardware is available.

The 5809 board plugs into an application board, near to, and in the same manner, as the VM-1 and tracking on the application board connects the 5809 to the VM-1's data, address and I2C buses.
