Available now from Mazet, the IceBrain 5200 is a board-level development platform for the Freescale MPC5200 integrated communications processor. The board follows the form factor of the Kontron E2Brain and can be combined with the Kontron EBC1 baseboard to form a complete embedded platform with a wide variety of interfaces for direct connection to peripheral devices. In addition to providing interfaces standard to every PC, such as PCI, IDE, USB and 10/100Mbit/s Ethernet, it also accommodates industrial standards such as CAN, I2C and SPI.

The user-friendly uBoot bootloader can be used to provide Embedded Linux support.

Mazet has used the new platform to develop a range of customer-specific embedded computing systems.

One example is a mobile platform which uses the Fujitsu Coral PA 3D graphics processor in addition to the MPC5200.

With a total power consumption of less than 2W and an operating temperature range of -40 to +85C, this platform meets requirements for battery-powered devices.
