New from Maxim Integrated Products, the MAX1162 serial-interface 16bit A/D convertor connects directly to SPI, QSPI and Microwire devices without additional interface logic.
The MAX9406 thus provides PC and graphics card manufacturers the flexibility to design for the DisplayPort specification, while supporting legacy HDMI/DVI displays through a low-cost level shifter.
Additionally, it can level shift a differential video data stream driven through a PCI Express card to drive an HDMI/DVI display.
This capability enables alternate PC motherboard configurations, such as an add-on HDMI/DVI PCIe-based solution.
The MAX9406 provides 5 to 3.3V bidirectional level shifting for the I2C-compatible display data channel (DDC) pins and 5 to 3.3V level shifting for the hot-plug detection (HPD) pin.
This high-performance device features low 0.56ps RMS added random jitter, a 2Gbit/s (maximum) datarate, an ultralow 350ps propagation delay and channel-to-channel skew of 20ps.
Additionally, the inputs integrate 50ohm terminations and a self-biased common mode.
The 48-pin version of the MAX9406 is function and pin compatible with the Intel HDMI level-shifter specification.
Available in space-saving 5 x 5mm 32-pin and 7 x 7mm 48-pin TQFN packages, the MAX9406 is fully specified over the -40 to +85 C extended temperature range.
Prices start at US $1.30 (1000-up).
