The MAX3580 is a fully integrated zero-IF direct-conversion TV tuner IC for DVB-T applications.

New from Maxim Integrated Products, the MAX3580 is a fully integrated zero-IF (ZIF) direct-conversion TV tuner for digital video broadcasting-terrestrial (DVB-T) applications By using the novel ZIF architecture and integrating an RF-tracking filter, this tuner eliminates external, discrete filtering components and the expensive SAW filter required by older, IF-based tuners, thus enabling the industry's lowest bill of materials (BOM)

Operating from a single 3.3V supply and consuming a low 650mW of power, the MAX3580 is ideal for USB stick, automotive, and infotainment applications.

The MAX3580 is available in a small, 5 x 5mm, 32-pin TQFN package with an exposed paddle; it is fully specified to operate over the -40 to +85C extended temperature range.

Prices start at US $5.50 (1000-up).

An evaluation kit and reference designs that combine the MAX3580 with OFDM demodulators are available to speed designs.
