PWM controller upgrades industry
standards
The MAX5094 is a high-performance single-ended current-mode PWM controller for isolated telecomms DC/DC convertors or universal offline input AC/DC power supplies.
Maxim Integrated Products has released the MAX5094, a high-performance single-ended current-mode PWM controller for isolated telecomms DC/DC convertors or universal offline input AC/DC power supplies This device is pin compatible with the industry standard and multisourced UCC28C43 and UCC28C45 family of products

Low-power serial ADC runs up to 200Ksample/s
New from Maxim Integrated Products, the MAX1162 serial-interface 16bit A/D convertor connects directly to SPI, QSPI and Microwire devices without additional interface logic.
Moreover, the MAX5094 provides lower startup current, tighter oscillator-frequency tolerance, and tighter current-sense accuracy than the UCC28C43 and UCC28C45, so designers can easily upgrade existing power-supply designs for higher performance with minimal component changes.
The MAX5094's switching frequency is externally programmable from 20kHz to 1MHz.
In addition the switching frequency is trimmed for +/-7% accuracy while current-limit threshold and start/stop voltages are trimmed for +/-5% accuracy.
The timing-capacitor discharge current is trimmed to +/-5%.
This allows accurate programming of the maximum duty cycle, which is 100% and 50% for the MAX5094A and MAX5094B, respectively.
The device's low 60ns cycle-by-cycle current-limit propagation delay provides a fast response to output short circuit.
Startup current is typically 35uA, which allows the use of a high-value startup resistor, thus reducing power dissipation and the size of the startup resistor.
The MAX5094 gate-driver output is capable of sourcing 2A and sinking 1A.
Rated for operation over a wide -40 to +125C temperature range, the MAX5094 is available in 8-pin SO and 8-pin microMAX packages.
Pricing starts at $0.64 (1000-up FOB USA).
