Battery monitors shrink to micro-DFN
packaging
New battery monitors packaged in ultrasmall 1 x 1.5mm micro-DFNs are billed as the smallest battery monitors currently offered.
New from Maxim Integrated Products, the MAX6775-MAX6781 battery monitors are packaged in ultrasmall 1 x 1.5mm micro-DFNs, making them the smallest battery monitors currently offered They consume only 3uA and have 1% accuracy, the best accuracy in the industry

New from Maxim Integrated Products, the MAX1162 serial-interface 16bit A/D convertor connects directly to SPI, QSPI and Microwire devices without additional interface logic.
With this 1% accuracy, the MAX6775-MAX6781 monitors allow a battery to drain down further than is typically considered safe.
Consequently, portable equipment operates longer from a single charge and battery replacement is delayed.
These battery monitors are ideal for single Li-ion or multicell NiMH, NiCd, and alkaline cell applications in portable equipment.
Whenever a monitored battery falls below its user-adjustable or fixed threshold, a low-battery output asserts to indicate low-battery conditions.
The MAX6775/76/77 offer a single low-battery output, whereas the MAX6778/79/80/81 offer dual low-battery outputs capable of monitoring two independent battery voltages.
The MAX6775/77/79 have push-pull and the MAX6776/78/80 have open-drain low-battery output configurations.
The MAX6781 has both one push-pull and one open-drain output.
These battery monitors are available with fixed hysteresis options of 0.5, 5 or 10% (MAX6775/76 and MAX6779/80/81), or user-adjustable hysteresis (MAX6777/78) to prevent the output from chattering due to the removal of the load.
The MAX6775-MAX6781 are available in SC70 and micro-DFN packages, and are fully specified from -40 to +85C.
Pricing for these devices starts at $0.89 (1000-up, FOB USA).
