Speedy DAC claims dynamic superiority for comms
The MAX5195 is a 14bit 260Msample/s DAC claimed to provide the world's best dynamic performance in spurious-free dynamic range, intermodulation distortion and signal to noise ratio.
By using an adaptive 1x/1.5x charge pump and ultralow- dropout-current regulators on the low-side feedback, the MAX1573 maintains the highest possible efficiency over the full, single-cell lithium (Li+) battery input-voltage range.
To ensure uniform backlighting of colour LCDs, it also matches brightness to within 0.3%.
This charge pump is an ideal choice when generating white LED supplies for cellphones, PDAs, and digital still cameras, camcorders, and other hand-held devices with colour displays.
The 1MHz fixed-frequency switching allows for tiny, external components.
The regulation scheme is optimised to ensure low EMI and low input ripple.
The MAX1573 features digital logic or analogue PWM LED-dimming control, soft-start to limit inrush current, and complete input-to-output disconnect during shutdown (0.1uA shutdown current).
The MAX1573 is available in a space-saving, 2.1 x 2.1 x 0.6mm, 14-ball UCSP, screened for the extended-industrial temperature range (-40 to +85C).
Prices start at $2.09 (1000-up, FOB USA).
An evaluation kit is available to speed designs.
