New from Maxim Integrated Products, the MAX1162 serial-interface 16bit A/D convertor connects directly to SPI, QSPI and Microwire devices without additional interface logic.
Their 0.5% accuracy is the industry's tightest, allowing for precision low-voltage rail designs.
The MAX1955/MAX1956 include a step-up bias supply generator with dual step-down controllers.
When operating at voltages lower than 5V, the bias step-up regulator generates 5V output to power the step-down controllers and drive external, low-cost N-channel mosfets to improve power conversion efficiency.
The MAX1956 operates from 1.6 to 5.5V input, and the MAX1955 operates from 2.25 to 5.5V input.
Both controllers generate outputs down to 0.8V, and digital soft-start reduces inrush current.
Selectable power sequencing and digital soft-stop simplify power-sequencing designs.
For noise-sensitive applications, both controllers can be synchronised to an external clock.
The MAX1955/MAX1956 feature adjustable, lossless current limit by sensing the drain-to-source voltage of the external N-channel mosfets.
Foldback current limit reduces power dissipation during short circuit.
Unlike devices featuring hiccup-mode short-circuit protections, the MAX1955/MAX1956's foldback current limit prevents the output from dropping during short-duration transient overloads.
The MAX1955ETI and MAX1956ETI come in 5 x 5mm, 28-pin thin QFN packages.
Prices for the MAX1955ETI start at $2.99 (1000-up, FOB USA).
Both devices are specified for the extended-industrial temperature range (-40 to +85C).
Evaluation kits and several application circuits are available to speed designs.
