Just released by Matsushita Electric Works is a new option for the power PhotoMOS range.
Until now, when using these devices, the specific drive state had to be established to prevent damage to the input LED of the PhotoMOS relay.
This new device has the option of a voltage sensitive input that incorporates an internal constant current circuit that allows the PhotoMOS to be driven from a wide range of input voltages from anything between 4 and 30V DC.
This removes the need for a current limiting resistor and means the PhotoMOS can be more easily integrated to a 5, 12 or 24V DC system.
This option is only available on power PhotoMOS series AQZ and is distinguished from the standard version by a D at the end of the part number.
The PhotoMOS relay is available in a sil package measuring just 21 x 3.5 x 12.5mm and available in both DC only or AC/DC switching versions with channel voltages up to 400V peak and maximum current rating up to 3.6A.
