Press-fit panel-mount light pipes can protect circuits from accidental ESD by isolating the PCB from human contact. Bivar's PLP series devices - now available from Optosource, the specialist LED distribution arm of Marl International - also ensure that front panels present a uniform display, enhancing viewer confidence. Ideal for any application where consistent indication is vital, PLP series light pipes are press fit by hand from the rear of the panel.

No additional hardware or special tools are required for installation, reducing assembly time and cost.

The light pipes can be used in panels up to 2.4mm thick and completely fill a 3mm diameter drill hole, blocking RFI and EMI noise leaks.

Removing the need for tricky, expensive and permanent mounting of components to front panels, PLP light pipes from Optosource are available in a wide range of colours and standard lengths, and will transfer light from through hole or surface mount LEDs.

They can also be used with self-retaining clips for extra retention and improved contrast.
