Marl International's Railtrack Approved 238 series (Cert No PA05/697) of bipolar, filament replacement bulbs are delivering significant benefits in rail signalling applications. The LED lamps feature a substantially longer life than traditional filament technology products, effectively providing a fit and forget solution. Because the T6.8 slide base lamps last longer (typically over 11 years continual use) they contribute to a reduction in overall maintenance costs, inventory levels and abatements which can run into thousands of pounds per minute.
They are much less susceptible to shock and vibration - a major issue in rail signal indication - and also operate at a lower current, leading to savings in power consumption and a vast reduction in heat generation.
238 series lamps are available flat topped for broad illumination, or with a dome, which enables light to be projected down a light tube for single point illumination.
They have a slide base fitting and are suitable for use with both AC and DC supplies.
They are also 'flicker-free' when operating from an AC voltage input.
Distinct colour definition aids instant recognition by the signal operator - a critical safety factor.
