In addition, LynuxWorks is the only embedded vendor in the industry to offer cyclic redundancy check (CRC) and TCP/IP segmentation offload support for enhanced processing performance on an Embedded Linux 2.6 kernel.
For example, an AMCC PowerPC 440GX processor running without offload support will achieve less than 600Mbit/s (60% wire speed) with full CPU capacity.
With BlueCat Linux offload support enabled, the very same system can reach 850Mbit/s (85% wire speed) with more than half of the CPU processor cycles remaining, enabling storage and networking vendors to realise the full performance of the AMCC PowerPC 440GX processor.
'LynuxWorks provides customers with a powerful Linux OS designed to meet developers' stringent performance needs', said Charlie Ashton, Director of PowerPC Software, AMCC.
'BlueCat Linux offers a complete solution for customers looking for a mature, embedded Linux 2.6 solution to leverage the advanced features in AMCC's PowerPC 440GX processor, such as high real-time performance balanced by high-bandwidth I/O'.
'This, combined with an award-winning PowerPC architecture, gives embedded networking and storage developers a fast, flexible solution with which they can confidently build their products'.
'We are excited to extend BlueCat Linux support to the AMCC PowerPC 440GX processor, a proven, best-in-class technology for major networking, storage and consumer OEMs', said Dr Inder Singh, Chairman and CEO of LynuxWorks.
'We certainly remain committed in supporting AMCC's embedded processors and share a common goal in ensuring that customers have the flexibility and connectivity needed to meet requirements for future demanding processor-intensive applications'.
'Together, AMCC and LynuxWorks provide customers a remarkable level of bandwidth and connectivity for optimising applications running on the AMCC PowerPC 440GX processor'.
With the BlueCat Linux BSP, PowerPC 440GX developers can immediately begin designing software applications using the AMCC reference card.
LynuxWorks BSPs also include advanced embedded development tools such as VisualLynux and SpyKer.
With these comprehensive tools and LynuxWorks' world-class sales and technical support, developers can enhance product quality and reliability and rapidly deploy products to market at a significantly lower cost.
BlueCat Linux 5.1 BSPs for the AMCC PowerPC 440GX embedded processor are available immediately.
