Although the general telecommunications market is still struggling, Livingston is experiencing a surge in its 3G test equipment rentals in preparation of the imminent 3G roll out both in the UK and across the globe. Livingston is attributing the surge in rentals to the economic slow down: companies can no longer justify the outright purchase of equipment and it's associated cost of ownership. Instead, to keep projects on target, companies are turning to Livingston to provide them with the needed equipment at a fraction of the cost.

While times may not be as buoyant as in 2000, technologies are continuously being developed and projects need to keep moving forward.

Companies are looking to cut costs and find new and improved methods of managing their budgets and projects.

Opting to rent over purchasing new equipment is a decision that makes financial sense to these companies and can help them maintain their edge over competitors.

"With times being tough, Livingston is welcoming many new customers who understand the financial benefits of working with a rental partner".

said Fiona Horrocks, Director and General Manager of Livingston's Test Equipment Management Services.

"We have anticipated this trend and have made the necessary investments to support it".

Livingston has recently added to its already vast inventory 3G related test equipment from Anritsu (MS8608A and MS8609A), Agilent (E4433B, E44337B, E4407A) and Rohde and Schwarz (CMU200, SMIQ, AMIQ).

The company will continue to invest in 3G technology as new developments emerge.

Livingston also carries a vast array of data and protocol analysis products that enable customers to test all parts of the data network.
