LucidPort Technology's L800 device controller chip is ideal for use in printers, scanners, digital camcorders, media players and other peripherals

LucidPort Technology's L800 device controller chip is now certified by the USB-IF as a silicon building block for Certified Wireless USB peripherals. The L800 and its development kit, the L800WUSB-RDK, are available now. The L800 is a general purpose device controller for adding wireless USB functionality to peripheral designs.

It supports all compliant packet sizes, burst sizes, transfer sizes, and numbers of endpoints.

It manages all the functions required by the WiMedia UWB and Certified Wireless USB protocols, including beaconing, encryption, and association.

This makes the L800 ideal for use in printers, scanners, digital camcorders, media players, and other peripherals.

Harnessing WiMedia UWB technology, the L800 interoperates with other wireless USB products at transfer speeds reaching up to 480Mbit/s.

'As a peripheral, the L800 works with all Certified Wireless USB Hosts while co-ordinating traffic with other Certified Wireless USB Peripherals', said Reid Augustin, VP of Product Development at LucidPort.

'A wireless device should just work -- the user should not worry about interference or incompatibility with other devices'.

Both the L800 and its development kit (L800WUSB-RDK) are available now.
