Fabricated using the LSI Logic 0.18-micron process technology with the core logic operating at 1.8V, the L64524 integrates 24 10/100 ports, two 10/100/1000 Gigabit ports and switch fabric with an embedded processor.
Its internal MAC address table holds over 16,000 entries.
By being the first in the Ethernet switch market to integrate a 143MHz RISC ARM9 processor, LSI Logic has boosted the performance level of this device to nearly three times that of its predecessor.

Two Gigabit uplinks provide connectivity to the backbone or local server farm, while priority queuing capabilities allow time sensitive data to access the network with minimal delay.
The StreamPack L64524 is pin, footprint and software compatible with the previous generation product and is stackable.
Manufacturers can significantly reduce their time-to-market by combining the L64524 with the royalty-free StreamPack Managed Switch Software (SMSS) platform and comprehensive development kit to create a complete Layer 2 data network switch.
"The StreamPack L64524 is a feature-rich, market-ready solution that is a model of cost-effectiveness", said LSI Logic director of networking product marketing, Ahmad Khanssari.
"LSI Logic has developed a long-term competitive system solution by combining the lowest component count (as compared to analogous switches), low power, cost-effective packaging, and managed software with a bill of material of less than GBP 110 per system.
This performance and cost advantage positions LSI Logic to aggressively target the Layer 2 + switch Ethernet market".
