Controller on the button

A new pushbutton controller provides enable control for DC/DC convertors, processor interrupt logic and adjustable on/off timers.

Linear Technology has introduced the LTC2950, a pushbutton controller that provides enable control for DC/DC convertors, processor interrupt logic and adjustable on/off timers The part easily solves the inherent bounce problem associated with all mechanical contacts, enabling power supply convertors and releasing a processor once the supply is fully powered up

When powering off, the LTC2950 interrupts the system processor to alert it to perform the necessary power down and housekeeping tasks.

Once the system completes the turn off operations, it can command the LTC2950 to immediately disable power.

Offered in a tiny 8-pin 2 x 3mm DFN package, the LTC2950 saves design time, as well as precious board space for portable instruments and handheld products.

The LTC2950 operates over a wide 2.7 to 26V input voltage range to accommodate a wide variety of input power supplies.

The very low 6uA supply current makes the IC ideal for battery powered applications.

Two versions of the LTC2950 are available to accommodate either positive or negative enable polarities.

The rugged pushbutton input pin is designed to operate in noisy environments and it can withstand ESD strikes of up to +/-10kV.

Specified over the commercial and industrial temperature range and available from stock, pricing begins at $1.75 each for 1000 piece quantities. Request a free brochure from Linear Technology Corp ...
