Compact convertor boosts to 1.4A
The LTC3458 is a 1.4A, 7.5V, 1.5MHz synchronous step-up DC/DC convertor with inrush current limiting and output disconnect.
Available now from Linear Technology, the LTC3458 is a 1.4A, 7.5V, 1.5MHz synchronous step-up DC/DC convertor with inrush current limiting and output disconnect Its wide 1.5 to 6V input voltage range enables the LTC3458 to operate from a dual-cell alkaline/NiMH/NiCd battery, a single-cell Li-ion, or USB power

Step-up convertor has wide input range
The LTC3458L is a 1.7A, 6V, 1.5MHz synchronous step-up DC/DC convertor with inrush current limiting and output disconnect.
It can deliver outputs up to 7.5V with efficiencies up to 93%.
Its switching frequency is programmable up to1.5MHz, allowing designers to keep switching noise out of noise-sensitive circuitry and enabling the use of tiny capacitors and inductors.
The combination of the LTC3458's high efficiency switch and tiny 4 x 3mm DFN package provides 1.4A of high efficiency boost capability in a very compact form factor.
For light load efficiency, the LTC3458 uses programmable burst mode operation to reduce quiescent current to less than 15uA.
The current threshold at which the burst mode operation begins is user-programmable, enabling designers to optimise battery run-time.
Switching frequency is also programmable from 400kHz to 1.5MHz via a single resistor.
Other features include current mode operation, programmable soft-start and a programmable current limit.
The LTC3458EDE is available from stock in a low profile (0.75mm) 4 x 3mm DFN package.
Pricing starts at $3.30 each for 1000-piece quantities. Request a free brochure from Linear Technology Corp ...
