LiteLED has released the SL Series linear light-emitting diode (LED) luminaire: a strip light that is claimed to be small and long lasting.

It is also claimed to provide superior task efficiency compared to the neon or fluorescent lamps that are commonly used.

The SL Series was designed to address the specific demands of under-cabinet, cove and refrigeration lighting applications.

The UK-based lighting manufacturer achieved a very slim profile (10mm) by using Luxeon Rebel and Luxeon K2 LEDs from Philips Lumileds.

These highly efficient LEDs enable the SL Series luminaires to deliver task efficiencies comparable to those of a standard T5 fluorescent fixture.

Andrew Littler, marketing director of LiteLED, said: 'LED-based lighting has already replaced incandescent lights in many applications.

'We think our Luxeon-based SL products are now ready to take on fluorescent and neon in cove and under-cabinet lighting,' he added.

The Luxeon-based SL Series is lifetime rated for replacement at 60,000 hours.

The SL Series is available in lengths of 300mm, 600mm, 900mm and 1,200mm.

The product has an IP67 rating, making it suitable for interior and exterior use, and it can be dimmed.

Multiple lengths may be joined together for a maximum length of 10m.

The SL Series is available directly from LiteLED or through authorised distributors.

LiteLED offers a range of Luxeon-based lighting products for the architectural and specification communities.

The company is also a member of the Luxeon Lighting Network and offers a full range of services from bespoke PCB light engines to full custom solid-state luminaires.
