Software upgrades ARM debugging
American Arium has launched SourcePoint 6.3 for ARM-architecture processors
The latest product release features support for ARM11 ETMv3.x (Embedded Trace Macrocell version 3.x) via Arium's newest trace analyser, the HS-1000. 'ETMv3 is a major ARM-architecture update to support the new features of the ARM11 families of processors', said Arium's CEO Larry Traylor. 'SourcePoint 6.3 and the HS-1000 are the perfect tools to utilise that architecture to enhance the debug process'.

SourcePoint 6.3 delivers a number of elegant features, now including individual processor control (IPC).
IPC allows the embedded developer to individually control particular processors or groups of processors on a multicore target.

SourcePoint 6.3.1 is the latest update to the American Arium debugger for ARM- and XScale-architecture processors
A powerful hot plugging feature lets a developer plug the emulator into his or her target and initiate a debug session at the point at which code has hung without resetting the target.
A number of other enhancements have been added to this latest version of the software interface, such as improved Watch window support that works with complex variables when more than one program is loaded.
SourcePoint supports industry-standard input file formats and includes a robust C-like command language.
The debugger operates in real time with all core frequencies and works with today's most popular compiler tool chains.
In addition, Arium offers a Linux OS-aware debug solution that delivers full symbolic, source-level debugging of Linux kernel code and applications, including loadable kernel modules and shared libraries.
Users can launch or attach to processes with seamless transitions to and from the kernel and each process.
In addition, Arium gives developers other industry firsts, including enabling the engineer to debug code on initial target bring-up immediately from board reset and hosting Linux console devices from within SourcePoint, eliminating the need for an I/O port on the target and simplifying the debugging of 'headless systems'.
The Arium HS-1000 offers full instruction set support for ARM7, ARM9, ARM11, Intel XScale and TI OMAP processor cores and features a trace depth of 256Mbyte with an industry-leading half-clock capture rate of 680MHz.
The half-clock trace capture rate relates to the maximum device core clock speed supported.
SourcePoint 6.3 also supports the GT-1000D, Arium's gigabyte trace analyser, and the LC-500, a low-cost JTAG emulator.
All American Arium products are available in Europe from Logic Technology.
