USB connector beefs
up for industrial use
Yamaichi Electronics has built on the modular concept behind the Y-Con industrial connector series and added Y-ConUSB to the product family with versions in USB-A and USB-B
Typical applications for an industrial USB connection are data and video transmission interfaces which are exposed to environmental influences. These are high-speed applications ideally suited to the USB 2.0 data rate of 480Mbit/s. Other protected USB applications include service interfaces for machine updates and up-/downloads in field applications (software updates, information exchange, machine control etc).

The plug and play functionality of USB is also of advantage.
The cover and flange of Y-ConUSB are identical with the Y-ConRJ45 and therefore not only offer full protection according to IP67, IP68 and IP69K but also reduce costs when changing or laying-out new interfaces.
An IP20 version is available as well.
The operating temperature range is -20 to +85C The modular system enables the simple design-in of USB jacks.
On top of that, compliance with the USB 2.0 specification ensures compatibility with standard USB cables.
To ensure the industrial suitability of the USB connection, Yamaichi has developed the first ruggedised USB cable on the market.
The standard cable assembly length is 2m for both IP69K and IP20 variants.
Further lengths and combinations are available on request from Logic Technology.
