IDE simplifies editor
and debugger configuration
American Arium has claimed a major breakthrough in integrated development environment (IDE) configuration
SourcePoint IDE, designed for use with SourcePoint 6.1, incorporates new wizards that support a host of standard configurations. The wizards greatly reduce the time required to set up the IDE. "SourcePoint IDE is powered by Visual SlickEdit", said Arium Product Manager Todd Selbo. "It's an outstanding code editor, but configuring it to work with a particular toolchain requires the user to input numerous parameters and settings".

The designer can go back and forth between the debugger and editor with ease, making simple changes less time consuming and larger changes easier to debug.
SourcePoint IDE offers full project management support, including project and make-file generation and build, an easily configurable environment, direct invocation of SourcePoint from within SourcePoint IDE with current project files loaded and ready for debug, and easy browsing for tool error output.
Editor features include syntax expansion and indenting, aliases, path/filename completion, symbol listing and replacement, context tagging, auto list members/parameters, auto parameter information, tag preview, and source code navigation.
The Arium IDE also supports a class browser, version control management, and workspaces and projects supporting multiple configurations.
The newest version of SourcePoint IDE is designed for use with SourcePoint 6.1, the company's latest debugger for ARM and Intel XScale processors.
In addition to IDE functionality, 6.1 offers outstanding run control and exceptional trace functionality, giving the program and firmware developer unsurpassed visibility to and manipulation of code via a series of intuitive screens and dialogs with numerous viewing and customisation options.
SourcePoint supports performance analysis, code profiling, and improved target awareness.
It handles industry-standard input file formats, includes a robust C-like command language, and operates in real time, working with today's most popular compiler toolchains.
SourcePoint 6.1 has been optimised for debug of embedded designs running Linux.
SourcePoint and SourcePoint IDE run on Microsoft Windows- and Linux-hosted workstations and are available from Logic Technology.
