Taking its Ether-Serial technology one step further, Lava Computer is introducing the latest addition to its line of Ether-Serial Links geared towards the point of sale. By offering a secure, SSL-based (Secure Socket Layer) Ethernet connection, the Lava PayLink IP is a space and cost-efficient alternative to leased line (telco) credit/debit payment transactions. Without retailers having to invest in new Ethernet-enabled equipment at the point of sale, the Lava PayLink IP enables legacy credit/debit payment terminals with a secure Ethernet connection.

Further, the Lava PayLink IP simplifies the payment process and saves both payment processors (acquirers) and retail merchants money by eliminating dedicated modem phone lines and speeding transaction times from 30-40s to less than 10s.

Although it has become more efficient to do business online, it has also become more difficult to ensure reliable and secure data exchange of financial transactions over the Internet.

As data become more widely accessible, they also become more vulnerable to attack.

With the Lava PayLink IP, creating a trusted online environment has never been easier.

The Lava PayLink IP encrypts data using 3DES security algorithms while it transmits TCP/IP packets of information in an SSL connection across any network.

The Lava PayLink IP includes one RS232 serial port to add networking functionality to any payment terminal with a serial interface.

Simple step-by-step web-browser configuration allows users to pair telephone numbers to IP addresses, and vice versa.

Data transfer occurs at standard speeds up to 115.2Kbit/s.

Adding intelligence and network connectivity to any serial device opens up a world of new possibilities.

Applications include automation of retail/POS, kiosk/ATM system builders, banking, healthcare, insurance or any industrial application requiring the secure transfer of confidential data over Ethernet with remote management capability.
