Fibre laser tunes in for opto testing
Fibre-optic test equipment developer Calmar Optcom has introduced an ultrafast fibre laser designed for test applications of Sonet/STM components
Fibre-optic test equipment developer Calmar Optcom has introducedan ultrafast fibre laser designed for test applications ofSonet/STM components. The new laser, the PSL-40, was developed inresponse to a renewed interest from researchers for testequipment designed for the emerging 40Gbit/s Sonet/STMtransmission speed.

Generator provides precision clock pulses
New from Lambda Photometrics is the CG635 synthesised clock pulse generator from Stanford Research Systems
The new fibre laser provides researchers withthe flexibility to rapidly tune the laser wavelength through the1550nm range eliminating the need for a multiplicity of DWDM testsources.
The laser is characterised by adjustable repetitionrates and ultra low timing jitter to meet even the most stringenttest requirements.
Calmar's President and CTO, Tony Lin,states: 'Fibre lasers are superior to current lasertechnology in several areas.
They have the ability to producevery short pulses, typically less than 1 picosecond.
Light pulsesthat last for only a few picoseconds enable researchers tosignificantly better understand the behaviour of theiroptoelectronic devices and communications systems'. Request a free brochure from Lambda Photometrics....
