The Intel IXP2325 and the Intel IXP2350 network processors will perform specific wireless, wire-line and interworking protocol functions for IP, ATM and TDM networks.
"We are very excited about this new, highly integrated and cost-optimised processor from Intel", said Thomas Thoet, Product Manager.
"With its significantly reduced power consumption, this device is ideally suitable for use on the small form factor AMCs".
"The third-party software ecosystem fostered by Intel to support their network processors allows Kontron to offer highly flexible hardware and software building blocks for applications such as wireless networking, voice over packet, Internet access and next generation networks".
The Kontron network processing AMCs based on the Intel IXP23XX product line will be the latest modular communications building blocks Kontron is planning to offer to the telco and datacommunications market segments.
Kontron's wide offering of communications building blocks based on Intel processors range from cPCI, ATCA, switches, modules (ETXexpress), PMCs and chassis.
These building blocks help customers to reduce their development time while minimising their overall investment in next generation computing and networking technology.
"The new IXP23XX product line extends our current offering of network processors, enabling our customers to design a series of applications that scale from T1/E1 to OC-192/10Gbit/s", said Doug Davis, Vice President, Intel Communications Group and General Manager, Intel Infrastructure Processor Division.
"Application-ready solutions from providers such as Kontron, help customers take advantage of that scalable performance while speeding development time".
Prototypes of these Kontron AMC products with the new network processor are expected 12 months after the start of development.
