ITT Interconnect Solutions has redesigned the Trident T2P contact system to optimise contact alignment.

A three-pronged contact clip and redesigned body shape reduce play in the contact tip, offering enhanced contact alignment and secure connector mating.

The stainless steel clips require reduced insertion force, allowing easier assembly.

Higher retention improves reliability.

The updated Trident T2P clips mean contacts can be replaced without loss of sealing and disassembly is smooth and easy.

The connector contacts are available with two body styles: standard brass and high conductivity copper alloy.

Both versions have tin, gold flash or gold plating options, can accommodate wire sizes of AWG14 - 26 and provide a mechanical endurance of up to 200 mating cycles depending on the plating used.

Minimum contact retention force is 67N and initial contact resistance is 5m ohms.

Trident T2P stamped and formed contacts can be used in all Trident products.

They are now also used in APD 6/7 connectors.

They are intermateable and interchangeable with all connectors that use T2P contacts and can be used for higher density connectors in other ITT product ranges.

Existing Trident crimp tooling and extraction tools can be used with the new system.

A range is available for customers wishing to purchase additional or new tooling, including a factory-calibrated ratcheted hand tool that supports all available crimp sizes and a contact extraction tool that fits all contact cross sections.

Both of these are suitable for low volume applications.

There is also a mini applicator with interchangeable modules that fits into most standard crimping machines.

An adjustment gauge checks the setting of the mini applicator.
