ITE Tech introduces DVB-T single-chip SoC

ITE Tech, a fabless IC design house specialising in mobile television solutions, has launched a DVB-T single-chip system on chip (SoC).

According to the company, the AT9058M enables a high-quality, ultra-low-power, small-footprint solution for DVB-T feature-phone, PND and pocket-television applications.

The AT9058M is intended to resolve the previous bottlenecks of launching DVB-T mobile phones: high power consumption, a huge PCB footprint, a complex hardware design and a high BOM cost.

It delivers a high level of integration, including a DVB-T demodulator, an MPEG-2 video/audio decoder, an embedded central-processing unit (CPU), a video processor, a scaler and SDRAM within an 8mm x 8mm package size, which reduces the total PCB size.

Power consumption is less than 300MW, extending television viewing time from two hours to five hours.

Additionally, the embedded CPU further simplifies heavy software tasks, while most of the software components are implemented inside the AT9058M, such as standard UI, EPG, channel scanning, teletext and subtitles.

Inheriting the field-proven high-speed mobile reception of the preceding DVB-T demodulators, the AT9058M achieves good Doppler performance in Europe and Taiwan, according to ITE Tech.

It has been designed in a number of different applications, such as feature phones, smart phones, MIDs, PNDs and pocket televisions.

A demonstration of the AT9058M mobile television turnkey solution can be found in ITE's suite at the Grand Hyatt Taipei, Room 1037, at Computex Taipei 2009 on 2-5 June.
