More scope for precision chip resistors

Thin film precision chip resistors are now available in eight package sizes, and feature extended resistance ranges and tolerance values.

Providing design engineers with an extended family of precision resistive devices for applications with minimal board space, TT Electronics IRC Advanced Film Division has expanded the specifications and chip sizes of its precision chip resistor product line.

Designated the PCF Series, the thin film resistors are now available in eight package sizes, and feature extended resistance ranges and tolerance values.

According to Steve Wade, Director of Sales and Marketing for IRC's Advanced Film Division, the values were extended to meet industry demand.

"As applications continue to be miniaturised, customers are requiring components that not only utilise minimal board space, but meet tighter specifications", said Wade.

"This extension of our thin film product family enables our customers to use precision chip resistors in a variety of circuit applications".

Typical applications for the PCF Series thin film resistors include precision circuits in instrumentation, industrial applications, medical equipment, computers, power supplies and telecommunications.

Available in eight standard package sizes - 0201, 0402, 0603, 0805, 1206, 1210, 2010 and 2512 - the resistors feature a wide resistance range from 1ohm to 2.0Mohm, with power ratings of 50, 62.5 (0402 and 0603), 100, 125, 250 and 500mW, respectively.

Maximum working voltage ranges from 25 to 150V, with tolerances to +/-0.01% and TCRs to +/-5ppm/C.

IRC will also produce devices outside these specifications to meet customer requirements.

The PCF Series resistors are available with RoHS-compliant terminations as well as Sn/Pb terminations.

Pricing for the PCF Series precision thin film chip resistors is US $0.10 each in quantities of 10,000 pieces.

Lead time is from stock to 8 weeks.
