Contactless smart card specialist Integrated Engineering has been acquired by Assa Abloy's HID Global, a leading manufacturer in the access control industry

A growing, profitable business with a talented management team and a strong product offering, IE will continue to operate as a separate business, with leadership in the Netherlands reporting to HID's management structure at the highest levels. IE was attractive to HID Global due to its flexible platform for Mifare-based readers.

Committed to designing reader platforms which are easily adapted to specific customer needs, IE will play a key part in HID Global's strategic initiative to expand its position in the Mifare (ISO14443) market.

HID Global's strong brand position and wide distribution networks will assist IE's talented technical and management teams in their efforts to make the company's capabilities available to a broader base of customers worldwide.

HID Global expects to make further investments in the distribution of the IE reader line and expanding into new markets with new and existing customers.

Although there is no immediate plan to integrate the HID and IE product lines, over time, new products will incorporate the stronger aspects of both lines.

IE design and development expertise will likely extend into future HID products.

IE customers will benefit from the eventual expansion of regional sales and support, in addition to IE's existing core competency in engineering.

Customers will also benefit from HID Global's extensive engineering resources, worldwide distribution capability and the new channel-focused sales structure, programmes, products and services.

'HID's brand strength and market leadership will expedite the realisation of our goal of meeting customer needs around the globe', stated Jan Peter Hulsker CEO of Integrated Engineering.

'We look forward to combining HID Global's manufacturing and distribution resources with IE's talented technical and management teams to make the company's capabilities available to a broader base of customers worldwide', said Denis Hebert, President and CEO, HID Global.

'Our operational competencies should enable us to lower our customer's the cost of doing business with IE'.
