Innoveda has announced TransOVM, a powerful options and variants manger that simplifies the time-consuming, process of designing complex wiring harnesses for large-scale projects

Innoveda has announced TransOVM, a powerful options and variants manger that significantly simplifies the time-consuming, often frustrating process of designing complex wiring harnesses for large-scale projects such as automobiles, aircraft, and farm and construction equipment. TransOVM further bolsters Innoveda's TransDesign tool suite, the industry's first fully integrated solution for automated electrical system design that covers the design process from concept to manufacturing support.

While other tools limit design teams to designing and managing each wiring harness independently, TransOVM enables teams to plan a large-scale design through a straightforward user interface that links the wiring content of all harnesses involved back to common schematics.

TransOVM is available now and priced from $30,000 in the USA.

"The electrical systems of large-scale projects such as automobiles can possess hundreds of thousands of wiring combinations", noted Enrique Ortega, vice president of the Electro-Mechanical Design group.

"Until now, there was no alternative but to design each wiring harness individually, which can be an extremely tedious, cumbersome and error-prone process.

Used within the TransDesign tool suite, TransOVM makes it considerably more manageable.

From the TransOVM interface, the option-linked wiring content of existing wiring harnesses can be used to create new harness designs.

All the wiring harness parts can be managed together through the TransOVM and TransDesign interfaces".

Innoveda's TransOVM is the only program management tool on the market that goes beyond managing option content of one family of wire harnesses at a time and manages all of a product's harnesses at once.

An electrical design 's subsystems, such as lighting and powertrain control, generally are implemented across several wiring harnesses, which compounds the difficulty of managing each harness independently.

Whole-design option management greatly reduces the time and cost of creating complex wiring designs.
